Over 100,000 people on drugs... Could be fun!?

Promoters have made this year's event bigger so everyone is not dancing on top of each other and of course the carnival rides will be there twirling spaced out kids around! I am weary of this many people in one place, especially drugged out kids who could be on another planet.... but in any case Electric Daisy Carnival takes place on June 25-26 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coloseum and Park. I'll have think about this one.

Lineup so far for 2010
Deadmau5 • Armin van Buuren • Groove Armada
Moby • Swedish House Mafia • Benny Benassi
Kaskade • Above & Beyond • Fedde Le Grand
Sasha • Laidback Luke • Armand Van Helden • MSTRKRFT
Wolfgang Gartner • BT (Live) • Dirty South
Claude von Stroke • Z-Trip • Jackbeats
Steve Aoki • Bart B More • Gareth Emery
Dada Life • Afrojack • Chuckie

Shocking new MIA

Check out the disturbing, thought-provoking video for M.I.A.'s new single, Born Free! It's a completely different sound from MIA but same provoking lyrics and meaning as her other work. I am not familiar with this director, Romain Gavras.... but well done!

ZOMBIE DEFENSE in STYLE!

I don't guess it has to be zombies that are the attackers but it's better marketing this way. Very nice.... makes me wonder what other everyday items can be designed to be multi-use zombie killing machines!? (via WOW Report)

GO THERE ALREADY

"A titillating collection of East Side hipsters flaunting their best disco outfits while they dance"
--BlackBook

"Some of the hottest, most theatrically retro-garbed regulars we’ve ogled in one place, topped only by the hosts. Hef is always a whimsical peacock and Diaz does disco pimp like no other!"
--LA Weekly

"This party is all about 'disco decadence'...the floor is packed and the booze is flowing"
--Metromix

"One of my favorite L.A. nights"
--Disco Workout

"Full Frontal, without a doubt, provided a time machine for the contemporary to experience true disco fever once again"
--URB Magazine

"Expect the pants to be as tight as the disco beats"
--Lina Lecaro

"The costumed patrons are disco-loving dancers, and the venue's light-up floor makes grinding that much more fun."
--Frontiers

"If you want to hear authentic disco (not hipsters attempting to ironically mix mp3s), be there"
--L.A. Times

"The fog is so deep you can't tell the topless women apart from the topless trannies and the music is so decadently disco that you really don't care as long as they're dancing with you."
--West of Hollywood

Best Music Video Ever?

I have always been a fan of the Chemical Brothers...but they raised the bar and blew me away when they released this music video in 2002. This big video and massive song still rank up at the top for me. The visuals and drug-induced out story line could not be better suited for the music. A magical wonderland as envisioned by a girl who perhaps took too much acid.... comes to her senses on the dance floor. MAGICAL INDEED!

The Chemical Brothers will be playing in LA at the Hollywood Bowl on August 29. Not to be missed!

M. Scott Hove’s “Cakeland”

I first saw Scott Hove's work in Hi-Fructose magazine. I was instantly a fan. I have always loved sculpture made of unusual stuff.... and this certainly falls in that category. This show is at the La Luz Gallery in Los Angeles until May 2nd. They have recently expanded their gallery and this show features a piece you can actually walk into! yaaayyy!

Here’s a blurb from his interview in Hi-Fructose Magazine:
The cake sprung from a weird fascination I have always had with fake food. I used to collect fake food, fake fires, ice cubes, etc. These objects have spectacularly absurd existence, are utterly fake, and people see them strictly for their illusion, not for what they are. I celebrate this absurd illusion with the cakes.

This makes me VERY HAPPY!

The beginning of a beautiful relationship

This is my first entry for this new blog. It has to be important. It has to be BIG! It has to have pizzaz and sparkles. It has to explode with excitement and intrigue! ..... well I can't muster up any of those things right now...so I will resort to re-posting my very first blog I ever wrote way back in 2005 on myspace. (my-what?) It's funny how things change in five years!

Tuesday, April 19, 2005 MY FIRST BLOGgetty blog BLOG
Current mood: bored
well what is a blog.....im not sure what it is but i know i wanna leave one...to make my mark in the land of blogs A BIT OF ME left that will only exist in the form of some bytes on some server somewhere.... small digital drop in the mess of the the internet....seems like it can be about anything..from lost jobs to a blog about something itchy in your underpants....what will my blog be about..maybe about the new job that I have or perhaps about the three films I am really excited about seeing this summer. Maybe I should delve into the ideas on where I thought I would be at this point in my life five years ago... or explain my ideas about how people could be happier........Should my blog be serious, should it be persuasive..or funny maybe.... a mad libs blog would be good...Maybe a blog about music would be good... thats seems popular on here....promoting the most obscure group i can think of....if they sell more than 10 albums a year..they are sell outs..ones that have a hodge podge of words preceded by the word " the" that form their hip names like "The Downgrads"...."The Pawns"...."The Licks"..and dress like they are from the 80s or from the fifties...sounds like i have a chip on my shoulder about these groups but i dont... props to those groups for making music...its thier fans..who are music snobs.....i say like music becuase its good....not becuase it helps you fit into a counter-culture that fixates AROUND maintaining obscurity...lol......well okay thats my blog....blogs make me tired
