A few really good music finds!

Heart On Promotional Video

Here is a promotional video for the once a month art show Heart On. I wanted to capture the carefree spirit of the event while also filming all the different things that happen. From bands, live painting, djs and a fashion show... there was a lot of running around to do! But it was all worth it.

Heart On is a community Art/Music movement. Everyone is welcome to join the family, we are always looking for artists & musicians for our monthly event held at the Airliner (every1st sunday) email yourhearton@gmail.com to take part in our next show!

Jonathan Edward Balfour - Stay Music video

My first official music video that I directed, shot and edited! Be sure to check out Jonathans other music on i-tunes. Super great stuff!

A few things you should know about!

The Naked and the Famous - Young Blood
These kids will be playing a FREE show in Los Angeles at Bardot on November 22. Looks like Jason Bentley will be Djing as well. Not to be missed! You have to RSVP here.

Junip - Always
This band comes over from dear Sweden. I'm not sure why but Sweden seems be pumping out a lot of great music right now! (Little Dragon, Robyn, Lykke Li) Maybe it's the painfully dark winters. This song is great and the whole album , Fields, from which this song comes is "melt in your mouth" good! They are playing a show in Los Angeles on November 14th. You should probably go see them. How to Make Justin Bieber Sound Incredible: Slow Him Down 800 Percent

VIA GAWKER
You totally hate Justin Bieber, right, because you're a rebel, or whatever? That's just because you haven't listened to Bieber slowed down 800 percent. Now his new single "U Smile" is a 30-minute epic. And it sounds awesome. No, really.

Courtesy of musician Nick Pittsinger, who used the free program Paulstretch, this is "U Smile" made slower. Like, a lot slower—eight times slower, to be exact. And all of a sudden the not-bad piano pop track sounds like the climactic score to some kind of historical epic, or Dead Can Dance, or, like, Animal Collective, or something. It sounds like the ocean, but, like, in heaven, man. Plus, it's 35 minutes long:

J. BIEBZ - U SMILE 800% SLOWER by Shamantis

Someone needs to get that on Pure Moods V. You can download it here, for the next time you're super stoned and don't have the Gladiator soundtrack with you.

Magic Garage 6

If you are looking for something to do this Saturday.... You should probably find yourself here at Magic Garage 6. It is an annual group art show going down in a great space in the warehouse district in Los Angeles. I have been to couple of other events here and they are always awesome! PLUS it is "Choose your own adventure" theme...AND I HAVE WORK IN THE SHOW!... which is pretty darn fantastic.

Judging books by their covers...

In light of the possible serial killer lurking around my home town of Joplin, I'd like to take the time to remind everyone of the golden rule of "Don't judge a book by its cover." It's best to open the book but be cautious... because you may find a serial killer inside.

.....AND also take the opportunity to show you this amazing performance that reiterates the above.

Daedelus "Righteous Fists of Harmony"

I heard this group on KCRW... where I seem to find all of my new music these days! I love the sound. I came across this promo for the album release. The video is sometimes like an overproduced perfume commercial...but it's pleasant most of the time. The music is the real gem here. Enjoy!... and check out the other tracks from the album.... you will be glad ya did!

Over 100,000 people on drugs... Could be fun!?

Promoters have made this year's event bigger so everyone is not dancing on top of each other and of course the carnival rides will be there twirling spaced out kids around! I am weary of this many people in one place, especially drugged out kids who could be on another planet.... but in any case Electric Daisy Carnival takes place on June 25-26 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coloseum and Park. I'll have think about this one.

The beginning of a beautiful relationship

This is my first entry for this new blog. It has to be important. It has to be BIG! It has to have pizzaz and sparkles. It has to explode with excitement and intrigue! ..... well I can't muster up any of those things right now...so I will resort to re-posting my very first blog I ever wrote way back in 2005 on myspace. (my-what?) It's funny how things change in five years!

Tuesday, April 19, 2005 MY FIRST BLOGgetty blog BLOG
Current mood: bored

well what is a blog.....im not sure what it is but i know i wanna leave one...to make my mark in the land of blogs A BIT OF ME left that will only exist in the form of some bytes on some server somewhere.... small digital drop in the mess of the the internet....seems like it can be about anything..from lost jobs to a blog about something itchy in your underpants....what will my blog be about..maybe about the new job that I have or perhaps about the three films I am really excited about seeing this summer. Maybe I should delve into the ideas on where I thought I would be at this point in my life five years ago... or explain my ideas about how people could be happier........Should my blog be serious, should it be persuasive..or funny maybe.... a mad libs blog would be good...Maybe a blog about music would be good... thats seems popular on here....promoting the most obscure group i can think of....if they sell more than 10 albums a year..they are sell outs..ones that have a hodge podge of words preceded by the word " the" that form their hip names like "The Downgrads"...."The Pawns"...."The Licks"..and dress like they are from the 80s or from the fifties...sounds like i have a chip on my shoulder about these groups but i dont... props to those groups for making music...its thier fans..who are music snobs.....i say like music becuase its good....not becuase it helps you fit into a counter-culture that fixates AROUND maintaining obscurity...lol......well okay thats my blog....blogs make me tired
